I am many things, but I am not a professional reviewer. I’m a former software engineer and current novelist (writing as J.P. Barnett).

I have written movie reviews on blogs and Facebook for years, primarily for the benefit of the few people who care. I abandoned long-form reviews because people seem to prefer tiny little tidbits of info nowadays, but it turns out that writing reviews is fun (even if no one reads them), so I’m back!

As I work on my novel(s), this is a good way to get some writing in that is not strictly beholden to anyone or anything. It’s just me, writing reviews about stuff, for the enjoyment of you. Seriously. If you’re reading this, it might only be you. Don’t let that stop you from joining in the fun, though! Leave a comment. The only thing better than reviewing things is debating the merit of said things.

If you want to know more about me, or would love to read my award-winning novels, hit me up on all the things:

I look forward to making new friends and inciting people with my reviews… not that I try to incite people, but it’s inevitable. For example, I am one of the few people on the planet who think that the first six Star Wars movies are pretty bad. Yes — even The Empire Strikes Back.

See. We’re going to have lots of fun here.
